چکیده

We presents a technique for 360 x 360 mosaicing with a very wide field of view fish eye lens. Standard camera calibration is extended for lenses with a field of view bigger than 180◦. We demonstrate the calibration on a Nikon FCE8 fish eye converter, which is an example of a low-cost lens with 183◦ field of view. We illustrate the use of this lens on one application, the 360 x 360 mosaic which provides 360◦ field of view in both vertical and horizontal direction.

Calibration of a fish eye lens with field of view larger than 180 ◦

We present a complete step-by-step approach to calibration of ultra wide angle fish-eye lenses with the angle of view larger than 180◦. Such a large field of view is necessary for some applications such as the 360 x 360 mosaicing. Recently, a Nikon FC-E8 fish eye lens converter with the field of view equal 183◦ become available. In this paper, we propose its model, suggest a calibration procedu...

Panoramic mosaics by manifold projection

As the field of view of a picture is much smaller than our own visual field of view, it is common to paste together several pictures to create a panoramic mosaic having a larger field of view. Images with a wider field of view can be generated by using fish-eye lens, or panoramic mosaics can be created by special devices which rotate around the camera’s optical center (Quicktime VR, Surround Vi...

Multispectral panoramic mosaicing

Image mosaicing overcomes the limitations of a camera’s limited field of view by aligning and pasting suitably transformed frames in a sequence of overlapping images. This paper deals with multispectral mosaicing for enhancement of spectral information – information from the thermal infra-red (IR, hereafter) band and visible band images is directly fused at the pixel level. All subsequent opera...

Background Mosaicing for Scenes with Moving Objects

The general problem of mosaicing is to create a single seamless image by aligning a series of spatially overlapped images. The result is an image with a field of view greater than that of a single image. This paper proposes a framework for creating a panoramic view representing the background of a given image sequence, by discarding the foreground objects. Our system performs motion estimation ...

Omnistereo: Panoramic Stereo Imaging

ÐAn Omnistereo panorama consists of a pair of panoramic images, where one panorama is for the left eye and another panorama is for the right eye. The panoramic stereo pair provides a stereo sensation up to a full 360 degrees. Omnistereo panoramas cannot be photographed by two omnidirectional cameras from two viewpoints, but can be constructed by mosaicing together images from a rotating stereo ...
